Driven down to Sangam
Monday, April 10, 2006
Last Saturday we had gone to Sangam ( a place where the river Cauvery and the river Akravathy unites ;-) ). Our actual plan was to visit Mekedatu (Goat’s leap) which is 4 kms walk from Sangam. Due to the intense heat of Sun god, we decided to stay at Sangam itself. It’s the longest drive I had in our Santro (180 kms to and fro) and I thoroughly enjoyed the drive.
Though the water level was only up to waist (except few places where it was chest deep) level, it was flowing with good speed. We needed to be little careful to make sure that we were not dragged off with the water. I heard from my friend that we could reach Mekedatu directly by car but no one in Sangam knew any route to do so. That was a disappointment but nevertheless it was a good decision not to walk 4 kms to reach Mekedatu as it would have put us down with tiredness by the time we reached back Sangam.
On our way back home, we stopped near Kanakapura to have tea and again stopped near to Bangalore to pick up some plants for the garden in our balcony. We already have close to 10 different species at our garden ;-)

I don't know if our balcony can get qualified as a garden but we still call it so.
We are planning a car-drive (Swift) to Makedatu during the weekend. How safe are the roads? Is it safe to park the car at Sanagam and go to the Makedatu? Any tips for preparation.
Thanks,
Giri.
